 Feb 13th - Coles Bay

Off for a bit of a longer walk today, around 15kms.  Stopped for lunch at Hazards Beach, which sounded a bit iffy before we got there but it turned out to be another misnomer really as it was v. safe with soft sand and not a lot of surf.  Lots of beautiful plants and trees on this walk and a great wetlands area behind the dunes at the back of the beach, it was lovely. Oh, and did I mention Tea-trees?  I’ve never seen so many in all my time in Oz.

Out for dinner tonight in Bicheno, a town about 40kms north of here. As JEM has already started celebrating her upcoming birthday, AND we went to a restaurant called the ‘Lobster Shack’, there’s no prizes for guessing what she had to eat!

When we visited MONA (the art museum) a few days ago we bought a jigsaw puzzle, with a Paris and an Impressionist theme, which we completed this evening (incidentally, the Spanish for’Jigsaw Puzzle’ is ‘el rompecabeza’ which translates as ‘a head breaker’! 😊).

  1. Yes we defeated the jigsaw and we can thank Janet for that suggestion - who would ever take a jigsaw on holiday - the pressure to complete was immense. The walk was great but difficult at the end as it took us back up the wine glass bay lookout - I tried to push on but eventually had to stop and take a breath on the way up ...just stopping to smell the roses. Spectacular view and one I was happy to revisit. The lobster...what can I say - you don’t turn 60 every day right!
